One of the best habits to develop is to finish what we started, isn’t it?
We need a sense of purpose and accomplishment in life. We need to know we are making progress and actually completing the things to which we give our time and energy.
We need to exercise diligence in order to finish what we start, and doing so demonstrates that we are trustworthy and have integrity.
When we leave projects or activities undone, we may develop a sense of failure and other people may feel they can not depend on us.
Our ability to finish what we start speaks volumes to those around us.
Jesus gives us great advice in the form of a question when He asks the disciples in Luke 14:28 “For which one of you, when he wants to build a watchtower (for his guards), does not first sit down and calculate the cost, to see if he has enough to finish it?”
Do you sit and calculate the cost of what you want to commit too, to see if you have enough to finish it?
Are you currently involved in anything that you would like to give up on or discontinue?
If so, I will ask you to reconsider. I will encourage you to press on.
Whatever you are involved right now, I encourage you to ask yourself “Have I set my mind to finish what I have started?”
